At Avast and AVG, I was responsible for designing in-product marketing experiences and email campaigns that encouraged upgrades, cross-sells, and user engagement across multiple products. This case shows how integrating motion and interactivity transformed static, easily ignored messages into dynamic experiences that captured attention and drove measurable growth.

About the project

X-Sell banners are in-product marketing messages that promote one Avast/ AVG products within another, encouraging users to discover and upgrade to complementary solutions directly inside the product experience.

Challenge

In-product banners promoting cross-sells (showing Product B within Product A) were underperforming

Static layouts blended into the interface and failed to capture user attention.

Messaging lacked hierarchy and context, making offers unclear to users.

Visual inconsistency across banners weakened brand perception and reduced engagement.

Old design

Solution

To create a more dynamic and effective experience, I introduced animation into the banner design. The new rotating format allowed multiple offers to appear within a single placement, capturing user attention naturally and maintaining visual balance. This approach reduced operational effort, kept messages fresh over time, and established a scalable design standard adopted across all products and languages.
